Note spacing: centering notes of bar-lenght duration(education exercise)

Dear All,

I’m working on an exercise, and I would like to have the whole note centered in the bar. Any hint?

Thank you so much in advance,

Yep I’ve done this often.

  1. Set note spacing to something like 1 1/2.
  2. Switch to note spacing tool
  3. Grab all handles on the whole notes only, not the handles on the barlines (you can do it with a careful marquee-select, click and drag).
  4. Ctrl-Alt-Right arrow

I’m sorry dankreider, but I haven’t managed to do it
“1. Set note spacing to something like 1 1/2.”

I assume is in Setup>Layout options>Note Spacing>Default space for crochet

  • When I do that, the staves are shortened:

Chords 2.dorico.zip (2.2 MB)

2. Switch to note spacing tool

In Engrave?

I tried with the last two steps, but with no luck:

  1. Grab all handles on the whole notes only, not the handles on the barlines (you can do it with a careful marquee-select, click and drag).
  2. Ctrl-Alt-Right arrow

I beg your pardon for my dumbness

Could you please help me again?

Thank you so much in advance,

  1. In Note Spacing, make sure you have systems set to justify even if they’re below a certain percentage.

Are you on Mac or PC?

Here’s a screen grab of what I mean. I’m using Alt-Right arrow. If you want to move by larger increments, it’s Ctrl-Alt-arrow, or Cmd-Alt-arrow on Mac):

The reason you need to set the note spacing lower is because this action I’m demonstrating above will cause the system to become over-full.

Here’s what you need to change for making sure the systems stretch to the end of the frame:
