Does adjusting note spacing affect staff spacing? If not, how can I keep them independent?
I’m not sure if you meant staff spacing or system spacing.
Adjusting note spacing does not directly affect system spacing. But for example, changing note spacing in a part might cause a measure to move from one system to another, and that might change staff spacing based on collision avoidance of items above/below the system.
You could say the same thing about staff spacing in a score layout. If a measure moves to a different system, it might affect the staff spacing of that system.
Changing the note spacing on a specific system triggers an automatic vertical justification change in the previous systems. Is there a way to freeze the system tracking or layout?
I don’t think that’s true, unless changing the note spacing causes a measure to move to a different system – or if the changed position of notes causes different collision avoidance calculations. There is no direct tie between note spacing and staff/system spacing.
Can you share a file that demonstrates what you’re describing?
Thanks.
