Note Values for Note Entry

I’m working on a piece where I need to divide note values by 16th notes. The default value is 8th notes. How do I change it to 16ths?

(I don’t think the default is 8th notes)

Set your rhythmic grid to 16ths. Make a selection and hit alt-U.
Does that do what you want?

There are default shortcut keys to increase (alt-[) or decrease (alt-]) it.

Or you can set your own shortcuts (in preferences) to set a specific value. Many of us use ctrl-4 to set the grid to 16ths and ctrl-5 for 8ths (etc.) as they mirror the normal note durations.

Since so many operations work with the rhythmic grid resolution (moving things, extending things), it is a really good idea to get familiar with it!
