I cannot find if NotePerformer 4.5.1 (legacy version) is compatible with MacOS Tahoe. I’d like to update as I have seen that Dorico 6 and other applications that I use are now compatible. I use NotePerformer 4.5.1 to continue using NotePerformer Playback Engines, but I’d like to check if this will still work after the update to MacOS Tahoe.
I’ve been using NP 4.5.1 under Tahoe for several hours a day over the past few weeks, with a range of instruments from the Cinematic Studio Series, BBCSO Pro, and Spitfire Symphonic Orchestra. So far, the only issues I’ve encountered are with Cinematic Strings, which occasionally continue to sound after stopping playback in Dorico (muting in NP resolves this), and an odd problem with Cinematic Studio Piano, where random notes sometimes fail to play. That issue ultimately prompted me to purchase the VSL CFX, one of the best investments I’ve made to date. I do spend a fair amount of time fine-tuning velocity values to achieve well-voiced chords and a good balance with other instruments, but I’m thoroughly enjoying the level of control this instrument provides.
My use of these libraries has been limited to flute, various percussion instruments, and harp. I haven’t encountered any issues so far, though I would still advise proceeding with caution. I made the leap to Tahoe fully aware that I’d be content to move away from NPPE if it eventually stopped working.
I think it’s well worth investing in a 1TB external SSD (around $100 in the US) and testing operating systems and important software before fully updating your main drive. I am also using NP 4.5.1 although I haven’t tested it with Tahoe yet.
