NotePerformer 5 Expression map

NotePerformer has an expression in the expression map labelled “Legato + Non vibrato”.

How do I apply it to a flow in my Dorico project?

It doesn’t show up under Playing techniques (or Playback techniques).

You use the non vibrato playing technique, in conjuction with either slurs or the legato playing technique.

And how, exactly does one use non vibrato in conjunction with legato when it appears one can only select one playing technique at a time?

I don’t know about setting a slur to cover the whole piece … or putting slurs on every phrase.

Select a note, add one of them. Reselect the note, add the other.

Oddly enough, that seems to work. Thanks.

I don’t find it odd. If the first playing technique you add is still selected. Adding the second one will replace it. Which means you can easily replace playing techniques without having to delete them first.

I think I was misled by past posts about legato not working with other expressions, and tediously long videos not quite explaining creation of compound expression map entries which didn’t seem to show the required steps, and didn’t show how to implement them if you did manage to find some obscure method of setting one up.

All a bit overwhelming when there is (as there should be) a simple, straightforward method of achieving the same end.

As long as the expression map has Legato+Non Vibrato included.

Jesper

It does, and I am grateful.
