BBCSO template with every instrument. Sketch score with Woodwinds, Brass, Perc and Strings. Start playing and it hiccups for about a second of silence then comes back. Often hiccups again a few seconds later. Restarting play sometimes clears it, oftentimes it just moves to a different place.
The computer is as high a spec as you can get, Win 11, 128GB RAM, 20 core HEDT Intel cpu, NVMe, and DAW audio workstation ‘hardened’ per Steinberg and other recommendations.
I assume LatencyMon shows no problems? Have you tried increasing the buffer size to give a bit more headroom? Have you tried changing the setting for ASIO-Guard in the Advanced Options section of the Play page of Preferences?
Thanks, I didn’t know about LatencyMon but it shows no issues. No difference on the buffer or ASIO settings, but anyhow I’m pretty sure its not a hardware issue. I’m using a Thunderbolt RED 4PRE professional rackmount chock full of FPGA’s to manage the digital audio. Putting NP into Mute mode still sends out basically the same audio stream and it works fine, which indicates a NP software issue I think.
I should have described the hiccup better, its not like anything I’ve heard from HW related issue like clicks/pops you get from buffering, it sounds pure software on the NP side. It kind of chokes off like the NP pipeline gets out of sync. Really it sounds like you yanked the musicians offstage briefly then push them back.
