Noteperformer live Playback gives strange note lengths

Hi,

I am having big trouble using note performer 5. I made I short test piece (see below) for organ. When I play it live in dorico, the note lengths are erratic: Most notes are played staccatissimo, some notes are held a half note and sound far in the other notes.

However, when I export the audio, everything is allright. So it seems not to be a general problem.

How can I fix the live Playback?

I would be glad for any help.

I installed everything according to the note performer instructions for dorico under windows.

It would only be guesswork to figure out what is going on in playback from a screenshot; please upload the file!

But since the export seems to work, you could try restarting Dorico and/or rebooting your computer.

Reboot/restart were the first things I tried.

Since the export works, I don’t how to generate a sound file of the live playback. I would need a kind of external recorder.

So here are the sound files: The export

mp3 (which is ok) and the strange behaviour on live playback.

I believe @jaskarbong meant uploading the Dorico project file rather than MP3s. It can be helpful to diagnose issues that might not be obvious.

My guess is: a faulty keyboard.

In your first audio file we can here notes that are not even in the score at that point, and these need to be coming from somewhere…

Well, thank you for your help. It is not the keyboard. I disconnected it and it doesn’t change.

Also: The long notes are always the same.

Here the dorico file:

Orgeltest.dorico (1.4 MB)

I opened you file, selected the first note, pressed “p” … and it played back quite nicely. No additional notes whatsoever…

Thanks for your feedback.

Well, I do read that many people use noteperformer and are happy with it. Therefore I hoped, I could use it without big problems…

However, I have toi realize it gives lots of problems on my system and obviously needs lots of time for troubleshooting… so far nothing helped. I left a message on the Noteperformer HP, but so far got no reply.

Therefore I now deinstalled it. I do not have the time at this moment for the amount of trobleshooting that seems to be necessary. Maybe I will try it again, when I have more time…

Frustrating, but I don’t know how to change it.

Thank you all for your help.

What are the ASIO settings for your system?

I get the same result as Estigy - the file you loaded plays back perfectly.

NotePerformer is generally very stable - I’d be tempted to reinstall it again from scratch and see if that works. You can also try emailing NotePerformer directly. Their email address is support at wallanderinstruments dot com
