Can anyone figure out why the suspended cymbal won’t play in measure 295. It seems to work everywhere else.

I could not really tell you what I’ve done to make it work. But I noticed that the roll technique was not defined for that instrument, that the tremolo playback option was set to a very weird 1/8, and that if you tie that roll to the next note, NP only plays one quarter note and stops… Now it plays as intended (I think) and honestly I don’t think it’s going to make a big difference for the player whether you have that tie or not…
The real question is why it works other places? And why, even though I copied over a working measure, it did the same thing. There’s something about that measure specifically.
Nope. It did play for me, at a very low dynamics, and for one beat (problem of tremolo tied to the dotted half). I think the real problem you should have an answer for is “why can’t I tie that half note to a dotted half note?”. Because now, it’s working perfectly, if I understand correctly the issue.
If it only plays softly and for a single beat, it’s not working perfectly. I’ll just have to keep investigating. I may delete the measure, then rebuild it and see what happens.
I’m sad that I can’t make myself clearer. Once I have modified your file, it’s working. The original file you sent was not working properly, since the volume was too low and the note only lasted one beat.
I saw the file you corrected, but the correct way to terminate the roll is a tie to the next beat. I works literally everywhere else in the same file, and when I deleted the measure and rebuilt, it worked right up until I tied it to a note without a tremolo. Again… it works everywhere else in the same file, just not here in this specific place.
I’m hoping someone will look at the file and tell me why. Either there is something different about those two measures (not likely, as I’d copied the same figure over from a working area with the same results) or there is a bug of some sort either in NotePerformer or Dorico.

It’s behaving the same way as elsewhere in the file.
What’s different:
- It has a lower starting dynamic. On my system, it doesn’t become audible right away. Not until it reaches a certain dynamic level.
- It has a shorter duration. That duration is shorter than the time it takes the dynamic level to become high enough to hear.
But why is the played duration shorter than the written note? And why would it not continue to the end of the tie?
Those questions could be asked to @Wallander . There is an issue with slashed notes lasting too short in the NotePerformer user guide. This problem here looks different but certainly wrong (as in “not as expected”).
I figured it had to be something like that, but this is the first time I’ve encountered it. I’ll read the guide because I’m wondering what the exact circumstances are that cause it.
It’s being caused by the Fermata and the Caesura. If you delete them both it works.
Which I can’t do, obviously. I worked around the problem by rewriting the figure to first tremolo tied to another under the fermata. Not my original intent, but it works and it at least plays properly.
