Notes being showed as other groupings

Hello,

I’ve got a dotted quarter note with an eight note after. In the same hand, I’ve also got a half note. The half note is shown as a tied dotted quarter note and eight note. I would like it to just be a half note.

Is this not possible? (I’m aware Dorico writes it the “correct” way, but I’d like to force it)

This can be accomplished with two separate voices.

Enter the half note then move the caret back to the beginning of the bar, press SHIFT V to create a new voice and then enter the dotted quarter and eighth note.

Thanks! This works. Only problem is now I’ve created an excess voice, and I can’t seem to delete it, so it’s just showing unnecessary rests.

If you have already a second voice, use that.

Delete the two notes – Dorico will remove the extra voice on the next project launch – and switch the voice with V in note input mode.

I recommend to enable voice colors (in menu view).
