Notes show at wrong pitch

For some reason, the piano notes I am writing via my keyboard appear on the wrong pitch. I write a D, and as you can see at the bottom of the screen, Dorico correctly identifies it as a D, but in the score its shown as a Bb. Its on Piano, so non-transposing. Any ideas why?

…are you in Bass clef? Because that most certainly is a low D, if so.

Hehe, no. Screenshot says D4 aswell.

But I just realized, that the problem stems from creating a treble clef by writing “violin” into the prompt-window. When I write “G” or “treble” it creates a regular treble-clef that does not transpose. Am I unaware of some hidden meaning of “Violinclef” in english? Because in german “G-Schlüssel” and “Violin-Schlüssel” are identical…

French violin clefs are G clefs on the bottom line (ie-transposing clefs) so that explains it. It’s transposed down a third, hence your notes are too.

Interesting! Thanks for the info!

Ah, I overlooked that it was placed on the bottom line

Fabulous sleuthing job, lacking clefs in the screenshot!

yeah, clef was far away with tons of slash region inbetween

Does the file come from Photoscore? It has this love for violin clefs that has driven me mad several times… I even asked their support to add a warning when such clef was “recognized”, because 99,99% of the time, it should be a regular g clef… But I don’t think there’s been any update in over two years!

No, not from photoscore. Just typed “violin” instead of “treble” or “G”, unaware that it`s something else…

Same in Dutch: ‘vioolsleutel’ is another name for the ordinary treble clef. The G clef on the first line is called ‘Franse vioolsleutel’ (French violin clef).
