how can I make the note heads larger. they print too small for beginner students to read well.
Do you want just the noteheads larger, or the staff with it? Dorico uses the “larger noteheads” set by default (in Engraving Options → Note → Noteheads), so I’d start with checking that setting in case you changed it.
When I write for beginners, I’ll change the staff size for those parts in Layout Options → Space Size → Rastral Size. There are several standard choices, or you can define your own larger if desired. I think this is the way I’ve usually seen beginner materials laid out–the whole staff is larger, and not just the noteheads.
