Nothing in the FM about this!

Somehow, I’ve deleted the default quarter note notehead. How can I re-add it?

Can you post your file here, or a cut down version that demonstrates the issue? I can think of a couple of different possibilities (most likely editing the notehead set, but possibly also editing music symbols).

This trips a lot of users up. When you do New From Selection in the notehead set editor, you are creating a new set which contains the same noteheads. Any edits you make to those noteheads are also reflected in other sets which contain them.

In your case, since you want a set with just a single notehead, it’s a little easier to just do New instead of New From Selection – but there’s still the same issue, since the new set starts out with the default noteheadBlack.

Here’s a post that shows the steps for creating a new notehead set like the one I think you want.

And just so you know, you can get parentheses around a notehead without having to create a new notehead set. Just select the note in the score, open the bottom Properties panel, scroll over to the Bracketed Noteheads section, and activate the Bracket Style toggle.
