Hi everyone, I’m not sure if this is useful to anyone, but I’ve developed some custom MIDI Remote scripts to support the Novation Launchpad X on Cubase and thought I’d share them on here.
They use the Launchpad modes as follows:
- The Session mode is used for project window controls, such as transport, zoom, quantize, undo/redo, etc
- The Mixer mode handles volume, pan, sends, mute, solo, record arm etc. for 8 active tracks (tracks and track banks can be selected with up/down/left/right buttons)
- Note mode is unchanged from the default configuration and allows you to play MIDI notes from the Launchpad
- Custom modes are used for a mix of functions, including Groove Agent drum mapping, Quick Controls, Focused Quick Controls, track EQ and pre-filter
I’ve developed these scripts for myself, so some of the mode and button combinations may not align with your workflow. Also, there are limitations with what you can achieve with a purely pad-based device that has no sliders or dials, so some of the buttons might do things that you can really do a lot better in the Cubase user interface.
An installation and reference guide is included. I’ve tested it on both Windows and Mac machines and with Cubase 15 and Launchpad X firmware 2.0.1, but can’t guarantee it will work for everyone else!
