I’m loving cubase 15 and thanks for your help on forum.Im thinking of upgrading to Mac mini M6 but need a few tips please.Ive got 12 usb A devices, synths, keys, pads audio interfaces, small mixing desk etc. What would be the best set up?I know the audio interface needs to go directly to Mac mini.Ive heard something about thunderbolt 4 dock?Any help would be appreciated for sure. Also to save money is it a good idea to store stuff on external hard drive?or go all out with 2tb hard drive and 24 GB ram M6 processor. Many thanks guys I get lost in all this set up stuff
If you attach your USB devices to a couple of powered hubs and connect those to the Thunderbolt dock it should work fine. How do you have all of them attached now?
I’m running a MPB M3 Max with a TB3 UAD Apollo Twin X attached through a TB3 dock, with no issues–but for a USB audio interface, you’d probably be better off attaching it directly to the machine. (I don’t know exactly what ports are available on the Mac Mini.)
I’m not sure about the saving money part
, but I’d choose “more RAM” over 2TB storage, unless you really need the portability or extra local space.
Getting all of your USB devices connected shouldn’t be an issue–I’d just make sure you choose a system with enough RAM, since that’s something you can’t change if you need more.
I like having my VSTs on the internal drive, and the projects on an external NVMe. You might want to use an(other) external drive for TimeMachine backups (even a regular HDD would work fine).
Thanks for reply James.
At the moment I have an iMac x 3 usb A at the back plus adaptor which gives me four x usb A at the front. Also I have a powered tp link with 7 usb .I use twelve two free.
Never have any problems or glitches.
Yes I would be getting M6 mini 32 GB ram.i may go with 512 drive for applications and get an external SSD drive NVme for large files.I have a 4tb crucial x9 on my time machine.Really appreciate you James
You probably already know, Steinberg Library Manager allows you to move VSTs to another drive.
