Now only three devices per license?! – Can someone please calm me down?!

I’ve been using Cubase for a long time with one license on four devices – and my Steinberg account has always shown all four devices, which I could deactivate as needed to make room for a new one.

Now it seems that Cubase can only be actively used on three devices at the same time. Wasn’t it different before? Is this related to the switch from the eLicenser to the new Steinberg Licensing?

Does this mean I’ve been using the software “illegally” on one of the four devices all this time – or did Steinberg simply change the terms and I guess I’m just screwed now?

And please tell me that activating/deactivating devices in the Activation Manager is at least simple and quick – so that I can keep Cubase installed on all four devices and just switch between my studio and home setup as needed?

Best,
Nikoli

Hi and welcome to the forum,

The new licensing system has always allowed to run on 3 computers only (since the release of the new licensing system).

It looks like you were using the Trial license at one of your systems (the Trial license works for 60 days).

Yes, it’s a matter of a single mouse click.
