Nudging midi notes VS events

Hi

I’m trying to optimize my workflow with shortcuts, but something confuses me. When I am inside an event (midi editor), then pressing Control + Left / Right moves a selected note left or right, respectively.

But when I go back to the project window and do the same thing with a selected event, then Control + Left takes the selected even and moves it all the way to the beginning of the timeline. And pressing Control + Right does nothing.

Is there a setting of some kind that lets me move (nudge) events in the same way as midi notes, using the same shortcuts? I am not talking about nudging an event’s start / end position left or right, but the whole event itself, as it is.

And as a bonus question - what about defining how much an event is moved / nudged? Is there a parameter for that?

Hm… Not at the daw now, but could it be that you have the snap type set to shuffle?

Hi Steve

Ah yes, you are absolutely right about it. My bad!

I had Shuffle mode on. In my previous topic I asked how to delete an event and have other events - to the right - move to the left: Delete an event and make the events to the right move left

EDIT: Regarding my second question about defining, how much an event nudges. I had some success with changing the Grid Type from Bar to Beat. I will try and experiment more with these.

Thanks again!

There surely is. You can find the setup in the Toolbar of the project view:

The left half of the screenshot. This is the fully expanded version of it.

If you can’t see it, make a right click on the Toolbar and select to show it.
