Nudging notes horizontally

Can someone explain how to make this:

Look like this?:

Trying to nudge notes and rests horizontally results in VERY strange behavior. Basically, all I want to do is nudge the rest to the right, or the notes to the left without changing or deleting them. Or better yet, just delete the rest!

  1. Remove the tie by selecting it and pressing U
  2. Press I to turn on Insert mode
  3. select the rest and delete

Thanks Dan… will try that next time. I ended up just deleting and re-entering everything.

You could also have used Dorico’s ability to shift notes left or right by the grid selecting them and cmd-alt-left/right to nudge them as needed. No insert mode required in this case.

Thanks for that Marc! This is how I would have expected Alt-Arrow to actually work… good to know!
