Just hoping this may help as I occasionally get these random quits I’m trying to narrow it down. Is this actually Nuendo or a 3rd party crashing?

According to the stack traces, it seems that Kontakt 7 triggered the crash. Especially, the thread handling the directory tree of the file browser called a pure virtual function which is a coding issue and leads to a runtime error. You should report this to NI as well because it probably must be fixed there.
I’ll report now Thx
I have a similar issue on Close, in that I must use the VST Opener/Closer on the track (or the Inspector for MIDI channels) otherwise I run the risk of system instability on certain (VST3) plug-in’s.
I try to avoid using the “x” button on plug-in windows, to close VST plug-in’s, which is an unfortunate workflow digression that I have had to make over time, likely a result of plug-in code.
This is interesting, can you tell me more , I hadn’t link open and closing with instability in general, it I have set up a short cut which open and closed VSTis
Obviously, one can’t open a plug-in via the close box, but if you find instability on open, if you do manage to open it another way, I would not use the closer at the top-right of the plug-in to be safe.
OK so you’re saying the RED close plug button can create instability ? in your experience can this instability show its self overtime from pressing this or is a a crash/quit as you press ?
I just checked and I have made a macro for VSTis for a select track I use it 1000 + times a day , my work flow is select a track press “v” , when I am done select the next next press “v” , 1st VSTi close now one open etc…
Only, specific plug-in instruments are causing me issues, and I await an update for these plug-in’s but as I have a reliable workaround. I simply have to remember to use the plug-in button, rather than the red close button.
I wonder if using the track Icon is the same a the RED button …
It is the same but performs 2 functions.
Unless I am confident in the stability of the plug-in, I will always go to the Inspector or Track, for MIDI and Instrument tracks respectively.
