Nuendo 14.0.41 Hotfix

Dear all,

we have just released a new maintenance update for Nuendo, version 14.0.41 addressing a stability issue when loading Dolby Atmos projects.

Nuendo 14.0.41 can be downloaded from the Download page or via the Steinberg Download Assistant.

All the best,
Luis

hi luis,

stability only? or can it open previous atmos-projects without any of the problems found in v40?

best,

Second this.

Hi

@Luis_Dongo Would be really good if clarification can be made that opening earlier working Atmos projects (e.g created in 14.0.32 and earlier) will work without issue before users go to the trouble of installing/testing, rolling back/ reinstalling earlier builds etc. It’s all a bit vague. Many Thanks

…from the release-notes: “We have improved stability in the following areas: when working with Dolby Atmos.” - great… but: atmos was completely broken in 40. is that fixed?

If a bridge spanning a river is completely destroyed and then a report comes out saying that the stability of the bridge has been improved, that means the bridge is completely back in working order.

maybe we have different views on this. example of a bridge I have walked across numerous times with both instability issues and stability rectifications: If a bridge is completely destroyed….it has to be rebuilt as there is nothing left as a bridge to make stable.

Working as expected mixing and exporting Dolby Atmos on Win 11, thank you.

Just to clarify @Wheels …….And projects from earlier builds all o.k? Cheers

In Finland, they make bridges with the ability to lay charges, to stop an advancing enemy.

I learned this from the German broadcaster, DWTV.

Installed the 14.0.41 update. When I open an existing Atmos project, there’s no sound at all.
If I remove the Renderer from the 7.1.4 bus and add it back, it shows up on the Stereo 2.0 bus instead.
I dragged it back to the 7.1.4 bus and the sound came back. Hopefully, despite this glitch, everything will run stable.

What is your system info?
Does this happen with every Atmos project?

My system is Windows 11 Pro for Workstations with the latest updates, i9-14900KS / Z790 / 128GB / UFX III.
I tried opening other projects, and in those the issue with the render appearing on an adjacent Stereo track did not occur. I only opened those projects and closed them without saving any changes.

However… I opened another ATMOS project (originally created in 14.0.32), enabled the Renderer — and the audio output disappeared. The Renderer wasn’t showing any incoming signal, even though all routing was correct. I saved the project. Then I opened it in the Cubase 15 trial (which I’m using while waiting for the new Expression Maps for Nuendo — really enjoying it). There was no sound there either.

I deleted the Renderer and saved the project again.
Now, when I try to open it in Nuendo, I get the following error:

“Invalid project file ‘01. …ATMOS 02.npr’!”

And when I open it in Cubase 15.0.6, I get this message:

“Project ‘01. …ATMOS 02.npr’ was created with Nuendo Version 14.0.41. This program version cannot load it.”

The only operations performed in this project were related to the Renderer, as described.
Unfortunately, the project can no longer be opened.

Previously there were no limitations opening Cubase projects in Nuendo and vice-versa. :frowning:

So far so good here. Opened a project created in 14.0.32, opens and plays fine.

Hi there. Thanks for the info. Hopefully you have a backup of that project.

And I imagine that someone from support will follow up this issue with you.

I’m afraid I haven’t seen any issues so far at my end.

Any Mac users tried this hot fix yet?
Since installing 14.0.40 I cannot get sound to come out of my right channel on an Atmos project, even after downgrading to 14.0.32. Non Atmos projects work just fine..
This is all on my laptop MacBook Air M4 (headphone output) btw. My Mac Studio is still on ‘32’ and works fine in Atmos.

UPDATE: I just installed ‘41’ and that right speaker issue is gone now. so it seems to go well in terms of opening up atmos sessions that were created on ‘32’.

  1. I got a crash, after trying to save a Template of N 14.0.41.

The crash was that white square saying something is wrong, etc…

Crash was sent to Steinberg, when I restarted Nuendo.

  1. Trying to save a Template a second time after a few changes, the template name disappears from the selector box, just like in N 14.0.32. If you type the same template name as the one that now is not visible in the selector box, it asks you if you would like to “Overwrite ?”, even though you cannot see the name in the selector box.

This is an old Bug, still in the N 14.0.41 version.

Yes, but I never installed 14.0.40.

Today I reproduced the following issue multiple times across different projects:
after saving a project in Cubase 15.0.6, attempting to open it in Nuendo 14.0.41 causes Nuendo to crash on load.
I’ve already submitted the crash logs.

Honestly I don’t think that should happen but I also think that opening a v15 Cubase project in Nuendo v14 is taunting the devil
