Numbered bar regions in Dorico 6?

Hello, I know it’s a busy (and amazing) day around here! But meanwhile, as I dive into the joys of Dorico 6, I’m unable to create a “Numbered Bar Region” in my timpani part. It was very easy in Dorico 5, and while I see the little handles appear after I create it, no numbers show up. I’ve checked settings in Engraving options and Layout options, and everything seems set the way Dorico 5 was. Any ideas?

Stephen

If you’re seeing handles but no region, that does distinctly sound like they’re hidden in the layout.

Just figured it out – it’s Layout Options, but not in Repeats/Showing and Hiding, etc. It’s under “Players” – just found it. And that appears true for Dorico 5 and 6. I wonder if this could be made a default? It feels like an extra step to apply a numbered bar region and then also to have to enable it?
Thank you!
Stephen

You can save it as a default yourself, of course. We reckon that on balance these things are hidden in full scores more often than they’re shown, so that’s our default – but a single global default can’t account for every possible genre or idiom of music, which is why we make it possible for you to set them for yourself.
