Numbering repeated bars

This is a short snippet from some music which I would like to emulate in Dorico. I followed the instructions given in Dorico Help but could not get is to work;

I selected the bars to be numbered (1-6), pressed Shft R and typed “num” into the popover. You can see the handles at the begining and end of the number region but the numbers are missing. What did I miss?

Numbered Bar Regions are - by default - turned off (meaning invisible) in score layouts. Go to Library > Layout Options, search for Numbered Bar Regions in the filter top left, then turn them on. Apply and close.
