I’ve had a good look through the manual and unless I’m missing something the only way to edit object metadata (X, Y, Z, Size) is to use the event editor directly. It seems like it would be much more useful to be able to select an object as a clip and edit those as automation curves on the clip. Is this something that might be considered as a feature enhancement?
In the specification, it wasn’t possible to create new automation points (only possible to modify existing ones).
Moreover, many people told us that it could be dangerous to let the mastering engineer change too much stuff about automation.
However, sometimes there is something to fix. This is why the event editor has been created.
Creating an envelope for X, another for Y, for Z, and for size, would not be very intuitive to handle 3D stuff (I know that by experience from WaveLab 5 and its surround caps at that time, because WaveLab had precisely this).
Note also that the current event editor allows you to select multiple events and change them all together, which is handy.
The event editor has been somewhat lacking for me so far when it comes to there being something to fix, but maybe that’s just my unfamiliarity with its UI talking!
XYZS envelopes are not ideal, yes, but it would still be better for my workflow than the event editor currently is; instead we just have XYZS events in the event editor with a strange tool for tweaking things!
