Object Selection Tool keyboard command does not work in Drum Editor

As the topic states. Just realised I can’t use my hotkey to switch back to Object Selection Tool in the Drum Editor.

But it does work in the Key Editor.

Can anyone test this?

Hi,

Could you attach a screenshot of the Key Command window, to see the Key Command assignment, you are talking about, please?

The default keyboard shortcut for Object Selection Tool is ‘1’.

Can you find it?

Hi,

OK, the default one. It works on my side.

Could you try in the Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?

Are you sure you’re in the Drum Editor, not the Key Editor?

Hi,

Yes, I’m sure. I tried in the Project window, Key Editor, Drum Editor. All of the windows react to the 1 Key Command.

I figured it out - but still a bug, I think?

I changed my ‘1’ shortcut to specifically ‘Object Selection Tool: Normal Sizing’ – which the Drum Editor definitely does not respond to.

You think that needs to be looked at? No reason why it shouldn’t work…

Hi,

Why is it a bug? If the Editor doesn’t have this tool, it doesn’t switch to the tool, once you fire the Key Command. To me it works as expected.

Why does the Key editor understand it but not the Drum editor?

Hi,

Because the Key Editor has two options for the tool:

  • Normal Sizing
  • Sizing Applies Time Stretch

Drum Editor has only the Object Selection Tool, it doesn’t have Normal Sizing tool.

Ok.

Time stretching on the Key Editor? I wonder why… When you can just drag notes… I’ll have to see what that’s about.

Hi,

I agree, it doesn’t make much sense. It doesn’t do more, than the Normal Sizing tool.

I just figured out a solution to my problem.

Instead of the key command being for “normal sizing”, I can just make a macro for

  • Object Selection
  • Object Selection: Normal Sizing

That solves the conundrum:)
