I upgraded Cubase 10.5 to Cubase 12 Pro on my Windows PC. For some reason I cannot use the object selector tool to move audio or MIDI events, or to edit events or audio. The tool does select the event, but that’s it. I can edit events by altering beginning, length, end, etc. incrementally in the bar above the project tracks, but the selector tool is otherwise useless. Online manual and searches haven’t helped. Any ideas?
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Isn’t the Audio Event/MIDI Part or the track locked in any way by any chance?
Welcome to the Cubase forums, @Richard_Kass
Are you able to move an event when you drag and drop the lower part of it?
If that works, you have Combine Selection Tools Mode enabled:
Hi Martin. Thanks for responding. I’m not sure what you mean by the part or the track being linked.
Hi Croissant. Thanks for responding. I am not able to move an event by dragging and dropping any portion of the event. I can select the event, but it will not allow me to move it.
I think Martin intended to type locked but the spellchecker forced its way
You can lock single events or whole tracks.
Does the problem also occur in other projects?
Hi,
I’m sorry, the autocorrection was in the office… I meant locked.
I’ll check to see if any track settings are locked, but the problem occurs in any project that I open in Cubase 12 or on Cubase 10.5.
Is it possible to nudge the events left or right? CTRL+Left / Right is the default shortcut.
Gentlemen. Thank you so much for your help. I figured out what the problem was. There was a conflict with McAffee antivirus software. The fix was to temporarily disable real time antivirus monitoring. I hope this information may be helpful to other users…
