Octave sign displaces harmonic symbols. Why does this happen and is there any way to avoid this tedium that wastes so much time?

Meanwhile, a possible workaround is to substitute the glyph of an unused articulation (in this case I used Unstressed above) with the harmonic glyph, in Edit Music Symbols dialogue (from menu Library>Music Symbols). Click on the star icon to save this as default:
Then you can apply your harmonics as Playing Technique (for playback) and hide them. Then you just select the notes and apply the customised articulation:
