At 400%, the text object appears bold. But when I zoom to 401% or greater, it switches to appear less bold. The Immediate Tempo Text Font is Geographica. I don’t find this behavior with other fonts and it’s not a problem per se. Still, it’s a curiosity.
You would have much more idea than I would Dan!! but is it some strange hinting thing (older design font)? or it trying to be a variable font, but not? … or are you thinking it’s unrelated to the font, but a zoom QT thing?
Are you on Mac or Windows? does it occur on either (not that the answer would help?)
A common font issue on both Windows and macOS. It requires a computer technique usually called Anti-Aliasing, font smoothing, font rendering, or font hinting. I think it can be fixed in the font editor by adjusting the hinting settings of the font.
Might it be also an issue with QT framework??..I am not sure.
When it comes to font hinting, hints are what make a font look good at low resolutions. They improve the look and readability of text in low screen resolution and small font sizes. However, most font creation software, such as FontLab8, Glyphs 3, and FontCreator 15 (which now works on macOS), can automatically add hinting information to TrueType/OpenType-based fonts during export. Therefore, it’s crucial to ensure that your TTF or OTF font is well-hinted.
Thank you Nor, I have Glyphs 3. A lot to learn! I have had autohinting on when exporting. I will make a check each time I export from now on, just to make sure.
