So I imported an XML file of an Alto Clarinet part into Dorico by itself so I could fix any problems before pasting it into the Master score. In this example all the selected (orange notes) are the correct pitch, but for some reason the key is set to Ab concert instead of Eb, which is what it’s supposed to be.
How do I delete the key signature but not change the written noes? Whenever I change the key to Eb concert then try to hide or just CTRL-x the extra sign post for Eb concert I end up with all kinds of freaky accidentals, double sharps with another sharp… stuff like that.
Also note I have signposts turned on and there is no signpost for the section that is in Ab concert.
Update. The only solution I could find was to delete all the notes, but Dorico still thought there was a key change to Ab concert in the 16 note run before Rehearsal 82… so I deleted all those notes AND bars up to the key change at m193. THEN I went back and re-entered the notes up to m82, THEN started adding measures and re-entering the notes until I got to the 3/4 bar. That did it, but boy I would like to know what was going on…
If you want us to look into this further, we can certainly do so, but ideally we would need the MusicXML file itself.
My guess is that the flat at Rehearsal 82 is actually a key change and not just a note accidental.
Turns out that the key change went all the way back to the Bb 16th note in measure 81. But even that didn’t have a signpost attached. Anyway, thanks for looking at it but I just deleted the whole passage measures and all and then manually entered them back in. If I come across this again I’ll upload the XML file as well. As this project is taking an out of print composition and making it readable for the Band I’m sure there will be many opportunities in the near future…
