Old setting in new version

Hello
Just my point of view for future updates.
Many news options are great but how many wonderful should be to have active existing option.
I think about all notes ornementation.
And a option to let us shoose each option active or not for existing projects.
It’s look like the rallentendo, the césure, and personnel setting are changing with the last update.
I need to reprogram some personal setting but I am afraid to forget some things.
Perhaps an option to choose all similar setting for old song opened in new version cool be secure.
Thanks you all the team

Thierry

You can transfer settings between projects using the Library Manager. It also lets you “bring in” options from the factory defaults, and from your user library (aka your own saved defaults).

Thanks you Lillie.
Does the length of rallentendo, césures etc with personnal and individual setting are concerned in the manager ?

Thierry

In general we set things up such that new options do not affect existing projects. If you can be a bit more specific about the exact issue you’re experiencing, we should be able to help further.

Daniel beat me to it, but if you look at the Version History, most new features or changes to defaults state explicitly that existing projects will keep their values.

Ok thanks you.
I will use the manager and compare the value of rallentendo.
If I see a difference, i will let you know.
Thanks you.

So, i have deinstalled Dorico Pro v 5,1,51 and réinstalled V 5,1,40. (on windows 10)
Nocturne A V 5.1.40 vs v5.1.51 rallentando Mesure 18.dorico (1.4 MB)

i have open in v 5,1,40 the song file (rallentando bar n°18) and all is ok for me.

after réinstalled v 5,1,51 the same song : bar 18 is really different ( very slow than the other Dorico 5,1,40)

i have choose the same song so no changement in the file.

Thierry

Before déinstalle, i have try to import the song (created in v 5,1,40) as a Block in v 5,1,51.

The bar 18 were very slow too.
i have try many thing before write here but every time i have no recorded the files before close it.

So it is a 5,1,40 (or before ? ) file.

( And i have updated v 5,1,40 to 5,1,51 directly without v 5,1,50 for information …? )

Thanks for attaching the project, Thierry. I will look into this further, but it looks as if the gradual tempo in bar 18 is getting its initial tempo from the wrong place. This will be a bug on the Dorico side that we will need to fix. As a workaround in the meantime, add an explicit tempo mark of q=58 in bar 17 (which you can hide by deactivating the Show metronome mark property in the Properties panel), and that will ensure that the rit. begins at the appropriate tempo.

Thanks you all.

The possibility to keep active the old dorico version on the same computer could be a solution.
In this way, we can open every files with the version used at the files creation moment.
It’s more easy than deinstalling and reinstalling old version if we need to make a new bounce.

You can keep multiple versions of Dorico on your computer if you wish. On macOS, simply rename the “Dorico 5” bundle in the Applications folder, and then install another version. On Windows, rename the “Dorico 5” folder in C:\Program Files\Steinberg, and then install another version.

Dorico 4 and 5 ok
Can i keep v 5.1.40 and 5.1.51 ?

Yes, just as I have described.

I didn’t know we can .
Super News for me :+1:

Thanks you Daniel.
