Older Cubase version reinstall.. same PC after complete system restore (HD reformatted)

Hello , I have a current valid license for Cubase Pro 14 running on my new system.I had to completely restore my older windows 7 system which was running Cubase 7.5 pro and had Halion sonic 3 and Wavelab 7 essentials installed running well.. and it uses the USB dongle which was all updated and showed the licenses. I also “merged” everything with the new e-license system before it went down so EVERYTHING shows up registered in My Steinberg account.. After trying to reinstall Cubase 7,5, 8.0; and even 10.0 which should run on windows 7 when I try to open them they want an “activation code” The old PC will not let me fully update the USB licenser maintainence software at all, but says it is outdated and the system will not allow me to install the “license activation Manager” software.. even the windows 7 version which used to work and had my correct info but couldn’t update anymore…

Where do I get this Activation code? The code in my e-mail from Cubase 14 pro purchase is a download code? Just trying to get back what I already had and was working on this older system..

Thanks for any help,

Well, ya gotta step through one thing at a time, keeping points in mind….

Even if you’re seeing a request for an activation code, an activation code is a one-time thing to let you in to an initial install of cubase 7 or whatever….which you obviously used “back then”. Not necessary now at any rate (plus you couldn’t get one for a discontinued ver anyway)….so ignore that message

You sorta kinda indicate that you just came out of installing a whole bunch of stuff in one go…win7 reinstall….cb7.5…cb8…peripheral pgms.

Personally, the least headache way is …

  1. clean install win7
  2. clean install of cb7.5 from sb ftp or whatever
  3. plug in elicenser dongle which DOES have your cb7.5 license on it, right?
  4. start up the fresh cb7.5 installed pgm…you WILL see an error….because the dongle driver on the old install zip is …old
  5. download the NEWEST final elicenser do gle driver….do NOT choose maintenance because hey, there is no server
  6. With dongle inserted, being driven with newest dongle driver (newest sb made at any rate), cb7.5 starts up.
  7. Verify all ok
  8. You want Cubase 8? Well, then just do it next, same steps…haha likely having to overwrite the dongle driver again as the dongle driver on the old cb8 installs….was old
  9. Proceed on like that.

As it is, you seem to have messages that….who knows where they’re coming from as a culprit.

Reminds me to do a fresh reinstall of win 7 on one of my older computers that has it. Just for practice

I run Cubase 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 on win11 pro flawlessly…..EVERYTHING license-wise….is on that dongle. NOWHERE else.

Of course my newer Cubendos aren’t on the dongle.

Thanks for the reply!

This solved my problem😎
