Thanks. I’m glad it sounds good now. Posting here is a good check. :sunglasses:

Hi

The bass is nor amped, only a di. I parallel compressed it with the free SSL LMC. It can add some mid rangy tone to a bass. I had to fight with too much warmth eating all the space in the mix. That comp helped a lot plus a cut a lot of tone away with eq.

Thanks

this is really cool. someone mentioned cohen, I’m kinda getting Ian drury. I love when the guitar stabs come in. is that a sustaining guitar feedback at points, thats a very nice atmospheric add.

An interesting departure from a lot of your other stuff, nicely explored.

I kept being reminded of “You Really Got Me” (The Troggs???).

I’d suggest cutting a dB from the bass.

I think the vocal sounds too papery and abrasive in places, mostly the
leading attack sounds. I think it would sound a lot better if you did
file surgery on those sounds and then wound back on the whole part
via some broad EQ dip.

But this is a great track, really enjoyed it.

Hi Bob

Thanks. What you hear is a synth (Stillwell’s Olga). Sorry to disappoint.

Hi Jet

Thanks for the reply. In fact I am just uploading a modified version. I did have some added distortion on the vocal but that has now gone. That could well be what you are hearing. I might need to do a bit of work on the raw tracks too. I have taken just the top edge off the mix too. Probably because there was too much bass I made some of the sounds brighter in order to balance.

It’s odd, I wasn’t expecting anyone to like this but the comments have been positive. Shows what I know. :open_mouth:
