Omnivocal: is it possible easily to create choirs, and multi-part vocal arrangements?

During my work on choir and ensemble arrangements, I noticed a workflow limitation that I would like to suggest as a future improvement.

Current behavior:

  • When vocal events are copied or dragged from one Omnivocal track to another, the destination track may inherit voice-specific information from the original event.
  • This makes it difficult to duplicate a vocal line and quickly assign it to a different singer or voice type.
  • As a result, creating harmonies, choirs, and multi-part vocal arrangements requires additional steps, such as exporting MIDI and re-importing it into another Omnivocal track.

Suggested improvement:

Please consider adding an option such as:

  • “Paste Notes and Lyrics Only”
  • “Convert to Target Voice”
  • “Copy Melody and Lyrics Without Voice Data”
  • “Duplicate to Another Omnivocal Track Using Destination Voice”

This would allow users to create harmonies and choir arrangements much faster while preserving lyrics and note information.

Example workflow:

  1. Create a lead vocal line.
  2. Copy it to a second Omnivocal track.
  3. Automatically use the destination track’s voice (Male/Female or future voice banks).
  4. Keep all notes and lyrics intact.

This would significantly improve Omnivocal’s usability for choir writing, vocal layering, backing vocals, and ensemble production.

Maybe I’m missing something, but if all you’re doing is copying a MIDI clip (or some specific notes) from one track with Omnivocal on it to another track with Omnivocal on it, I’d think only the notes and lyrics (i.e. text values assigned to those notes) should be copied. The voice settings would be in the Omnivocal VST3 instrument, not the MIDI. The only area I’d think might be an issue there is if you were doing some automation of Omnivocal parameters via MIDI CCs that you’d want to be different for the different voices.
