Omnivocal languages

Does omnivocal only work with English lyrics? What would happen if I type in text in French, Italian or German?

It will either sound English, Japanese, or Omnivocal will sing “la”.

Japanese? really?

Yamaha’s home market. And the “mother product” Vocaloid seems to be pretty sucessful there.

Thanks. Not exactly useful for me …. I guess it’ll have to be la la lalaland

Hello again. I’ve installed the Elements 15 trial to see how Omnivocal works. However, the question is - how does one access this plug-in? When selecting a note In the key editor I see no field to enter “Text” (as is shown in the intro video).

In the Help Manual there is no result for Omnivocal …

You need to download and install. The entry in the Steinberg Download Assistant is in the Tools section:
grafik

The manual is on the Yamaha web site only:

You would create an Instrument Track and select Omnivocal as its instrument plugin.

Thanks again. But it sure seems strange to introduce a new feature without providing any information on how to use it.

Just one more question - after entering lyrics in the key editor I do not see them in the score editor, nor am I able to enter them afterwards. Is that not possible? (or not supported in Elements?)

I think there is currently no connection in Cubase between the text for individual notes and the lyrics in the score editor. Those seem to be two different things for Cubase. I am not entirely sure, though, as I hardly use the score editor.

Just found a thread regarding this (it’s not possible)

Is it me or the resulting vocals have a strong japanese accent?

Definitely an accent coming through, but it sounds more German to me. But I guess it could be Japanese too

Try using : openipa.org
