I wanted to test cue mixes in a song I’m producing, as I quite never used them, so I activated cue1 and I set mix levels for some channels only, that I wanted listen to while recording; I noticed these channels volume fader turned to pre-fader and this is correct, according to the pdf manual - p.515 - because make them indipendent from main mixer fader levels and I got it so far.
The problem is that when I tried to change some main mix channel volume this reflected on cue mixes too and I have headphones set to listen from cue mixes…
I couldn’t realize if this is a bug or I’m doing something wrong so some hints would be helpful.
they aren’t, actually, when you create them, but you can set them to pre- with the specific menu once you’ve them active clicking on their fader; you can set many in one move if you select more channels.
What I’m suspecting is that my sound card (Audient ID14mk2) routing is not enough to manage sends correctly, as I always have bleeds some way..
One thing I think I’ve understood, but I could be wrong, is that cue mixes don’t work correctly if you use groups but I’m still doing experiments and I have to check different hyphotesis…
Maybe I’ve understood the right way to manage the thing; some more try then I’ll write it here the (my… ) solution if I’m sure so it can possibly help other users…
Activate Ref outputs (1 to 4) in Audio Connection Panel then:
if you are planning to have more than one Cue Mix Active you would need real physical output)
in my case I only record myself so I can switch from Main Mix to Cue 1 activating the relative switch in CR.
Activate Control Room
Activate Ref 01 (up to 04) in the control room and set their button to Cue Mix
In the Phones panel in CR switch from Mix to Cue depending on what you want to listen to.
The thing that confused me is this: if you listen trough a Group channel you don’t need to activate cue mixes for each single track in it
BUT
If you only want to listen to some specific track you have to activate them individually and not use the group channel then you can choose if listening them with the main mix fader level (post fader) or at their real level (pre fader); if you activate both tracks and groups you will listen to them two times.
Hope I’ve been clear enough….
@st10ss thank you for answering and trying to help; ask me if I didn’t explain things clearly…
