I have a setup with one singer and three different libraries (aa, oo, mmh) in one Kontakt-Player.
How can I address it in Dorico (three different voices on one stave?)
You can do that with independent Voice Playback.
Here are the steps to follow.
- Go to the Play tab (ctr. + 4)
- Click on the singer track
- Click on “Enable Independent Voice Playback”
- When you made changes in the key editor, they will be lost in step 3. You can save your work by copying the singer notes temporary to a staff of another instrument before step 3 and after step 3 you can bring all back to the singer by copying back all notes (when you copy notes, all data in the key editor during that notes are also copied).
- Now you have to make 2 other voices (you need three). You can do that by selecting a note and tap shift + V. Click another note after this and tap shift + V, and you get the third voice. (When you want to change the voice of a note from one voice to another existing voice, you can tab V one time or 2, depending which voice you prefer for that note).
- When you are using more than 1 voice in one bar, you see rests. You can make them invisible by selecting them and click on Edit > Remove rests (I made a key command for “remove rests” , works very fast in that way: just select a bar, tap the key command and done).
- Go to the Play tab again. You see 4 singer tracks instead of just one. The upper one shows all notes, but the other three are showing the notes of the 3 voices you just made. Now you can couple a library to the lower 3 tracks. By using the right voice/track you get the sound you want.
- The moment you remove the rests, that came by using several voices in one bar, the notes are shown just as one voice.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for your detailed description. I got stucked at point 7, where I cannot assign different voices to the different inputs, they stay at 1, nevertheless I put 2 or 3 in “Kanal” and clicking on the icons (endpoint config) and (e) nothing happens.

The easiest way to manage this is to make 3 Kontakt instances in Dorico.
- Click on “VST und MIDI”
- Ad 2 more Kontakt 7 VST instruments by clicking on the left +, if you have the “aa” in the first Kontakt instance, choose for the second one the “oo” and for the third one the “mm” (to avoid unexpected things don’t duplicate the Kontakt instance, because in that case you have to change things in Kontakt)
- Click on " Spur-Inspector"
- Click on the second track of Voice
- Change the VST to “03 - Kontakt” (03 can also be another number, depending on whether other VST instances are present)
- Click on the third track of Voice
- Change the VST to “04 - Kontakt”
Now you have coupled the right sound to the right voice.
Got it to work, thanks, even with one instance of Kontakt and three slots.
