Online manual

Hello, when I click on the Dorico online manual hyperlink…this -

[Dorico online manual] https:steinberg.help – Steinberg.help has all the regularly updated documentation for any version of Dorico available in your browser or PDF

All I get is the Steinberg privacy settings page asking me to Accept All…but there is no response when I attempt to click on any of the icons.

Is there an alternate way to gain access to the Dorico Manual. I’m really in need of information

Hi @vaughnroberts.vr, and welcome to the Forum.

What browser and OS are you using?

Did you try with a different browser? Both Firefox and Safari work nicely with the Manuals for me on Mac.

And just to be sure, for Dorico 5.1.70 this is the link to the Online Manual

and the site for the PDF version

or the direct PDF link.

Hi Christian, thanks very much for your prompt and helpful response and warm welcome.

I am using Mac 13.6…Sonoma, and using Safari as a browser. I have exactly the same issues with the first two hyperlinks you attached…I get to the Steinberg privacy settings page and when I attempt to click “agree” (or anything else) nothing happens.

However the direct PDF link you sent worked like a charm, and I have downloaded the manual, and will start reading it with interest.

Thanks again…

I have many specific Dorico related enquiries, as a Finale refugee…so I will be asking more questions, if that is ok!

@vaughnroberts.vr if you have questions, the Forum community is here to help

Glad you was able to download the PDF.
The PDF is very good, but the search functionality in the Web Help (Online manual) is much better: did you try with a different browser?

It was the browser which was the issue. I just downloaded Google Chrome, and no issues with that now; I’m able to access the online version, which, as you say is preferable…thanks once again.

I have various issues I’m needing to resolve or find answers to; but one of the most pressing ones relates to drum notation. With either the basic or full drum kits chosen, I am able to input notes, by scrolling using the computer keyboard or with my midi keyboard to input “natural notes” only…ie. snare drum, closed high hat…but not the percussion playing techniques, such as cross stick, rim shot, open high hat, ride bell, etc. What I CAN do is input these natural notes, then using the “Shift/Option/Up Arrow” method change these into adjusted notation and sounds. However this is a very time consuming method of input and undesirable. I have seen on Dorico tutorials that these playing techniques should be enabled for input via computer and midi; but I’m wondering why I’m unable to achieve direct input.

Related to this question - once I am able to access the open high hat directly for input…I would like to adjust the notational display from the default - which is with a small circle above, to an a circular note head around an “x”.

Can you please advise how I may be able to achieve these objectives…

Hi @vaughnroberts.vr, glad that Chrome worked (even if I don’t recommend using it: try with Firefox  )

For the other questions It would be better if you create a new thread for each (you can put in the same thread if related), so that the search functionality of the Forum will be better for other users looking for those same information, and so each thread is about only one topic, and the answers are better organised. Thank you.

Hello Christian,

Note that only the English version of the online help has been updated to 5.1.70 ; the « first steps » doc remains in 5.1.6… as for the French versions of these helps and docs, they are still in version 5.1.5. Alas.

NB : MacBookPro with Safari 17.4.1 here, and absolutely no problem.

At @vaughnroberts.vr : I think you will be find soon the answer to your points reading the help linked to by Christian.

Cool. No problem. Will do.
