Open default montage

I see there is an option to always open a default empty montage, is there any option to always open my default template instead?

Yes. Right click on your template:

thank you PG for all your replies, so I am aware of the default option for a montage, and that works great inside the program for any new montages. What I’m wondering is if there is a startup option that allows Wavelab to do its original open with my default montage in place, thank you

Do you mean: “can WaveLab start and create a default empty montage each time it starts” ?
WaveLab can’t do this.

I’m sorry If I was a bit unclear, I have a default montage created that I use everytime I work, it has my preferred sample rate, my metadata variables all in place. What I would ideally like to do is everytime I open Wavelab, have it immediately open that default template so I can go to work on it, is that an option, so far it doesnt appear to be, rather I need to always open Wavelab, go to the template section and click on my preferred pre saved template and then begin…

As displayed on my picture, you can assign a custom shortcut to create a montage based on the desired template. Hence this should be quicker than what you describe.

Actually thats what I do, I open Wavelab and hit my custom shortcut… but now as I have reflected on this scenario, I believe it would actually be inconsistent to have Wavelab do what I am requesting in the first place. For example, when opening a fresh project it would be nice to open right to my template the same way a Word document opens, but on the other hand if I am importing from say Cubase, how could Wavelab make the decision to not open if there was a conflict of settings. So the way it is now, Open, choose the template, (shortcut or click) and proceed is the more prudent.
I resolve to this being solved
thank you , for your input

I don’t understand what you say here, as WaveLab can’t open a Cubase project.

hi PG,
I didnt mean literally opening a Cubase Project… when I finish working in Cubase I always choose the export to Wavelab option to go to the next step for me…

FWIW, I am able to program Stream Deck and/or Keyboard Maestro so that when I render all my captures from analog out of REAPER so I can load them into a new WaveLab montage and finalize the album/EP/single/etc, I have it set up so that when I start the render, WaveLab opens and then Stream Deck/Keyboard Maestro presses the shortcut for my preferred default template so it’s basically like WaveLab opens and automatically creates a new montage from my preferred default template.

nice, thanks for the info and the tip Justin…
