Open file without loading playback engine?

I’m running on an older Mac (2015 MacBook Pro). I’m working on transcribing a piece that I’ve written for orchestra for wind ensemble. I’d like to have both windows open to help copy and paste between scores. However, each time I switch to a file, Dorico (re)loads the sound library/plugins, causing a delay when moving back and forth.

Is there a way to temporarily disable the audio engine from doing this so that I can work quicker? At this point, I don’t need the playback function.

You can set the Playback template to Silence (from the Play menu).

Thanks!
