I cannot open Dorico. It starts to open, then a warning message comes up, “The audio engine is taking longer than expected to respond… etc” You can then opt to either comntinue to wait or terminate. This has happened before and I usually click “Continue to Wait” and it then opens. But not this time, I have been trying all night and it just won’t open. Any ideas?
Well, click Terminate. Then retry opening it. Chances are the audio engine has crashed and needs to be killed in order for Dorico to reopen properly
If on Windows, open Task Manager and kill any Dorico process and any VSTAudioEngine process. Then try again.
Hi, I have tried that and it still does the same.
Sorry this was the answer to Marc Larcher. I am on a mac.
Hello John, same thing just happened to me for the first time. I opened “Activity Viewer”, looked for the line “VST…(something)” and terminated that process by clicking onto the “X” above.
Once this process had been “killed” I could launch Dorico the usual way.
Hi @John_Sunter , if you still can’t get it going, I can offer you having a remote screen sharing session via e.g. Zoom. If that is okay with you, send me a private message via this board, we can then arrange for the details.
Thanks Ulf, but I will respectfully decline.
Did you successfully get Dorico to start on your system, John?
I can send you an updated build that should tell us more about what is going on. I’ll send you a direct message in a few minutes with more details.
Hi,
Many thanks, but I rebooted my mac and 2nd time trying Dorico opened. Hurrah.
Regards
John
