Our main Optical drive (audio CD-Data DVD burner) is going south (plextor PX-850SA)
what are some of the recommended burners out there now ???
any to stay away from (when using Wavelab 8.5) ???

I’ve been using Pioneers on Windows internally and in various external enclosures with Wavelab since Apple used the DVR103 as it’s first Superdrive. Still using DVR-118 and DVR-117, and I would hope their current drives are just as reliable. For external use I like the Macsales mercury pro enclosures.
Found a couple of good threads on Plextor alternatives in general:
so it turns out it was not the Plextor optical drive.
the problem was a bad eSATA / PCIe interface card.
Easy and cheap to fix !!!
