I am often asked for versions of my works for other instrumental line-ups. For example, from symphony orchestra or symphonic band to saxophone ensemble, or the other way around.
What is the optimal way to make use of what has already been written when moving from the original formation to the new adaptation, based on what you have found in these cases? (using Dorico, I mean, of course, not topic about orchestration/arrangement, etc.)

For your example I would open the orchestra score, duplicate the flow and add four saxophones, arrange them so that the sit either on top, or on the bottom of the score, and the simply copy whatever is needed. When done, I would delete the content from the original orchestra parts in the duplicated flow and exclude the now empty players from that flow.
You then have all your possible orchestrations in one project.
