I have 3 flows in project (Solo Sonata). In two flows (having added manually system breaks to improve the page turns) the pages work out very well, the last pages are 90% full.
But in the third flow I end up with orphaned systems at the top of last page.
What is the proper ‘Dorico-esque’ solution to this problem please? I don’t want to:
re-flow everything and lose my calculated page turns.
add manually system breaks to do what Dorico should have done
After deleting all breaks in flow 3, insert, at the beginning of flow 3 a Note Spacing Change (from Engrave menu), then set its first property to Change, and shrink slightly the first value, and click ok, until the extra staff will disappear
Ah. Good idea. Unfortunately I’d already reduced note spacing to 3.5 in my layout options.
For now I will split each flow into a new project (which is what Finale made me do in the old days ) and then combine PDF’s at the end. I’m looking forward to what Dorico 6 might give us here (layouts per flow maybe?)
Tony, you can individually change note spacing at any point in your layout. This means, if you have note spacing set to 3.5 in your layout options, you can change it from f.e. flow 3 onwards down to 3. or even further.
Try to follow Christian’s advice - he knows what he is suggesting,
Your kind offer is much appreciated but currently the music is too fluid/unfinished and is duration 10 mins 20 secs. The requirement is for 10 mins -possible a 20 second cut will remove my orphans.
