I want the ossias to connect only on their final bar. The way the first one appears is perfect, but that’s simply because it’s not a full measure. For the ossia denoting the trill, I want only the final dotted line to exist.
What’s confusing is that the manual says [empasis is mine]:
" If an ossia both starts and ends at barlines, the following accepted conventions exist among different publishers:
Barlines join the ossia to the main staff at both its start and end
A barline joins the ossia to the main staff only at its end
The ossia does not join to the main staff at all
When an ossia is joined to the main staff, some publishers use the same kind of barline as used for the other staves, which is typically a single barline, whereas other publishers use a dashed barline.
Dorico Pro provides options to accommodate all of these conventions in Engraving Options > Barlines > Ossias."
And you can see from my original image (while in Dorico), there is no apparent way to make ONLY the final barline actually connect to the ossia via a dotted line. It’s either all or none.
But the manual seems to say this should absolutely be do-able.
Again, I think I must be missing something obvious.
I’m still wondering if I am incorrectly reading the online manual, which I block quoted earlier. The authors seem to acknowledge that one accepted convention is just what you see in my image of the original:
“a barline that joins the ossia to the main only at the end”
…and then later:
“Dorico Pro provides options to accomodate all of these conventions”
So that’s either not true, or I’m interpreting it wrong, or I am missing something.
With the ossia bar line highlighted in Engrave mode, I’m experimenting with every possible property and getting nothing. After, of course, looking at “Engraving Options > Barlines > Ossias”
Hoping someone like a Daniel or a Lillie knows just what the hell I am missing.
I think Dorico covers all of the above cases - if the ossia is within one bar.
The case that an ossia spans more than one bar seems to be not covered (yet).
I would put it in as a feature request.
