OT: Obtaining scores

Well, it took nearly a month, but the Kabalevsky score is finally here!

My town library ended up requesting it via Interlibrary Loan from San Francisco. It’s a large, heavy volume of over 250 pages, and in decent condition considering its age. A big thank you once again to the wonderful people here who recommended the ILL route.

I’d be very curious if anything stands out engraving-wise from the image to the experts on the forum. A small insert in the back of the book lists only one correction (a single dynamic marking in Italian). I know that Soviet music publishing was based on the two commercial publishers that had been nationalized, but no idea if they were any good.

Glad you were able to lay your hands on this rare bird.

I’m impressed with the quality of the engraving. If you look closely, there is a lot of fine detail work that’s been done. The stave spacing is just right, leaving room for dynamics and text. I like the long flat ties on the second page.
