OT Tabloid paper in the EU

Not a Dorico question, but I’m hoping some of the EU composers might be able to help me out. I now live in Portugal, but still do a lot of work for people in the US that want scores on Tabloid sized paper. Is there a source in Europe where I can buy that, or do I just need to buy A2 and have it cut down?

Do you have to print this yourself and send it to customers? Would it not be easier to layout using 11 x 17 inches (North American Tabloid) and send the PDF to the client for printing in the US?

If you need to print for local proofing, could you scale to fit available ISO sizes?Custom trim at printers is usually expensive.

Thanks for the suggestions, Andro. It would definitely be easier to send PDFs, but the folks I work with want performance-ready scores and parts that are already printed and bound and ready to go on the stands. I may be forced into cutting down larger paper if I can’t find a way to get it somewhere.

Worse-case, I can order it from Amazon in the US. I just need to compare the cost of shipping to the alternative of purchasing larger and having it cut down by my local print shop.

Your best bet is to send the PDFs to a US printer, who will print and deliver it to your client.
Paper is surprisingly heavy, and postage costs for sending 1Kg across the pond are large. (200 sheets of A4 @ 80gsm = 1 Kg!)

I’ve found it almost impossible to get anything other than A-series from paper merchants in the UK. Not even B series!

Tabloid is an annoying size, because it’s just slightly too big for A3, which means you’ll have to waste loads of an A2 sheet.

Thanks, Ben. I found that Amazon shipping is about 55USD, so depending on what the US printer would charge me or what my local Portuguese paper cutter would cost it might be a good option. I appreciate all the advice and suggestions. I came over here with a bunch of paper and have worked through it a lot faster than I anticipated.

@bkshepard ,
I am sure some of the U.S. forum users can point you to a similar printing service like this one. You’ll sent them the .pdfs and they will print,
bind and ship to your customers. It’s amazing quality, btw.:
