I have a clarinet part out of range. I have selected the last note. I perceive three different shades of/red/orange/brown. I assume the first red means “totally out of range”, the second being pretty out of range, and the last note I selected.
I suggest altering these slightly to show the selection more clearly. I think this is similar to a thread about orange used for voice colour.
