Output Control Room to Headphones and Monitors Separately

Excuse the garbled question, I’m very new to using Cubase Pro 14 and especially Control Room.

I have a Focusrite 2i2 interface and I’m trying to set up Control Room to control my studio monitors and headphones independently of each other.

But Control room is only recognizing one instance of the 2i2, even though it has a separate headphone amp.

Is there a way to do this? Could I use another audio interface for the headphones, perhaps. I know it’s possible to have headphones on a different channel but can’t work out how to do it.

Thanks for any help.

I actually do not think it is. While a separate “amp,” it’s not a separate “channel” AFAIK. I believe the HP monitor is part of the main out path.

Thanks for the help. I may not be using the correct terminology.

I have seen from YouTube videos that some people are controlling monitors and headphones independently of each other in Control Room.

With the Focusrite 2i2 CR seems to ‘see’ it as the same output.

You can only do what you want if the interface has independent access to headphone channel…the 2i2 is strictly 2 channels, the phones always mirror the main outs so you cannot do what you want.

You can still create a separate control room output for headphones that might contain different insert plugins for example…but it will be going to the same 1/2 outs so you’ll need to manually turn down the monitors.

That’s very helpful, thank you.
