Over ringing notes on all instruments

Hello:

Dorico 6.2.0.6088 (Mar 6 2026)
MacOS Tahoe 26.3.1 on an M2 Max MBPro

The attached excerpt for flute has staccatos followed by slurs. Note Performer 5 plays these perfectly.

VSL SE Studio Flute via the Synchron Player (1.3.2944) using the Art Conductor expression map (or not) eventually over rings all of the notes even though the Synchron player shows the correct articulation being enabled and disabled as does MIDI. The first two measures play accurately but the over ringing begins with the third measure moving forward. The same occurs with the woodwinds, brass, strings and any instrument I tried. Even if I start at the third measure it over rings. Incidentally, the same over ringing happens with Spitfire’s Orchestra solo flute and even worse. Likewise with Halion (although that was a quick test).

I exported the excerpt as MusicXML, imported it into Logic Pro 12.0.1, set up the same instrument using the Art Conductor articulation set and it played the articulations perfectly with no over ringing.

I’ve tried different scenarios with this excerpt but the same over ringing occurs each time. For what it’s worth the “Ends voice” setting under Notes and Rests is always turned off.
The rest of the flute part plays accurately. So far, the over ringing occurs only with the excerpt.

Any help with this is much appreciated.

I assume you mean sort of an echo creating a messy sound with overringing or do you mean that the staccato is ignored. With the SY Woodwinds Flute 1 and the Art Conductor EM all sounds fine. Have you also tried to solo the instruments to avoid that these are phasing issues?

Thank you for asking.

The staccatos play fine. Starting with the third measure the slurred notes sustain through the next measure creating a sonic mess. This continues for the remaining measures. Everything works fine with the slurs removed but that’s not the intended articulation. And why it starts with the third measure and not the first two is a mystery. As stated in my original note, this occurs with every VSL instrument I tried.
