Hello everyone. I’m having a writing problem with Dorico Elements 6 that needs to be resolved.
For a better understanding, I’ve included a screenshot of the rather annoying issue.
How can I prevent a rest in one voice from overlapping a note in another voice?
In the screenshot, the rest overlaps the staves of the note below, but sometimes it overlaps the same note.
Specifically, it’s a three-part guitar score.
Thank you.

Hi @nunzio52, to be able to move the rest horizontally, you need to put the voice with the rest in a different Voice Column index then the other two voices. Because you have three voices the visualisation of the selected round control point in Note Spacings is a little tricky.
-
in Engrave mode select the upper and lower voice note on beat 1 and set them to have Voice Column index: 1 (from the Properties Panel):
-
in Note Spacing tool, select the little square on beat one and press TAB only once (or select the big square, and click TAB twice): the round control point for the middle voice (the rest) will be selected but is hidden behind the other control point. You can move the rest with Shift+Option(Alt) and right/left arrow: the rest will move and the red round control point will appear

Here a video explaining the detailed workflow (sorry I made confusion between the colours as I was looking at your screenshot…):
I really don’t know how to thank you.

A solution mark on @Christian_R post is a good start. Also helps future forum searchers. ![]()
