I am trying to enter a very widely spaced grand staff chord via my midi keyboard using pitch-before-duration. My hands are not large enough to get all the notes in one, so I enabled Chord Mode ‘Q’, which I thought must allow me to add notes on top, but it appears to make no difference while in PBD. Is it not possible? It would be nice if it were so!
@wing
excuse my ignorance, what is “PBD”?
Pitch before duration. The abbreviation is fairly new, due to recent developments…
Thank you Peter.
It’s not currently possible: all of the notes have to be depressed at the same time, regardless of whether chord input is active. I agree it would be a good thing for us to add in future.
Thank you! I have small hands, only able to play 8ths comfortably, sometimes 9ths on a good day I envy the people who can play 10, 11, 12ths! Either way it would be a welcome addition, thanks again.
Just wanted to mention that in Finale you can roll chords so the note-on events don’t have to actually occur simultaneously. They still have to be pressed down though and not released. Obviously it would be great if that functionality could be added as well, but if Dorico could keep track of the sustain pedal too, so the notes don’t have to remain pressed at all, that would be amazing.
