Parameter Value Serum 2

Hi, I’m experiencing a persistent keyboard focus issue with Serum 2 inside Cubase 15 (Windows 11).

The Problem:
I cannot manually type parameter values into the Pitch/Master Tuning field. When I double-click the value, it highlights in blue as expected, but after typing a number and pressing Enter, the value simply reverts to its previous state.

Technical Details:

  • Mouse Wheel works: I can change the pitch by scrolling, but I cannot set a precise numeric value.

  • Macros work fine: Interestingly, I CAN type and confirm values in the Macro knobs without any issues.

  • On-Screen Keyboard: It’s disabled (Alt+K).

  • Input Format: I’ve tried both period (.) and comma (,) as decimal separators.

  • Generic Editor: Even in Cubase’s Generic Editor, the value field for Pitch remains unresponsive to keyboard data entry.

  • Confirmation: Pressing Enter (both Main and Numpad) or clicking away doesn’t validate the input.

It seems like Cubase 15 is intercepting the Enter key or failing to pass the string-to-float conversion to the plugin specifically for the Pitch parameter.

Is there any known XML preference or VST3 setting in Cubase 15 that could be locking the Parameter Values for specific fields?

Thanks in advance for any help.

There is actually one setting: If the particular parameter already has some automation data and the Serum track is in Automation Read mode. Then manual changes are no longer possible in the interface as the value will immediately jump back to the read automation value.

Aha, and where can I find the “Automation Read mode” in Serum 2?

It will be a red box with an r in it at the top of the vst window…. I am not familiar with serum having a 2nd internal setting to ignore what the host is saying

Ah, okay! I thought you meant there was an option within Serum itself. Yes, the track is already in “R” mode. I’ve always been able to numerically modify the pitch value with the automation done. The problem started with Cubase 14; other plugins like Valhalla and Replika also have this issue.

I can move the pitch automation with mouse, but not in the value parameter

Yes! well…the Read mode is green and Write mode Red, but thanks I understood the host with your answer

You could turn off Read mode and then manually change the parameter. Does it work then? If not we’d have to think of something else.

Well, the thing is, if I turn off Read mode, the automation turns off, and I can’t edit any nodes, just like it’s always been in every version of Cubase.

What I am trying to do is to troubleshoot your issue. You are not really helping, though.

 Excuse me, what am I supposed to do?

Switch off Read for the track and then change the parameter manually in Serum.

This parameter value is what I mean

Hi again, so nobody can help me with that? or anyone with the same problem?

This can only be counter-checked by someone who has Serum 2 installed on their computer. I am afraid I am not such a person. Hopefully there will be someone.
